Do you dream of long, flowing, healthy hair? Lots of women wish that they had locks like Rapunzel, but sometimes it can seem like your hair isn’t even growing. If you are frustrated by slow hair growth, check out 12 simple and natural ways to help you to grow hair faster.

Hair habits that help you to grow hair faster
1. Avoid using heat on your hair
Using heat on your hair is very damaging. If you don’t think you can give up your straighteners or hairdryer, consider cutting down and always use a heat protection spray.

2. Trim your hair regularly
If you want long hair, you may want a trim. It may sound counter-intuitive, but if you leave split ends they work their way up your hair, meaning more hair needs to be cut off eventually. Try cutting off an eighth of an inch every two to three months for long, healthy hair.

3. Switch up your hairstyles
If you want to grow hair faster, it may be time to mix up your look. Avoid tying your hair in the same place every day as it will damage your hair in the long-term. If you keep moving your pony around the hair will remain strong and free from split ends.

4. Always condition your hair
Conditioner helps to replace the lipids and proteins inside the hair shaft, preventing future damage so your hair can grow long and healthy.

5. Rinse your hair with cold water after you have washed it
Give your hair a quick blast of cold water before you get out of the shower to help prevent moisture loss and snags in your hair. It only takes a few seconds to do, but over time you will notice a big difference in your hair.

6. Brush from the bottom of your hair
Brushing your hair can either help it or harm it. If you start from the top the little tangles are more likely to form one big tangle, damaging a large amount of hair. Instead brush from the bottom up to the top, carefully working on tangled parts.

7. Don’t wrap your hair up in a towel
When you wrap your hair up in a towel, it can be damaged by the tiny towel fibers that it becomes caught in. Most women also tie the towel too tight around their head, which can break the more fragile strands of hair around your face.

8. Massage your scalp
Healthy hair normally starts with a healthy scalp. Think of your hair as a root that grows out of the ground; if the ground isn’t healthy, the root will not grow properly. Try massaging your scalp while you are in the shower to encourage blood flow and hair growth.


9. Buy a silk pillowcase
If you want to grow hair faster you may want to buy a new pillowcase. Cotton pillow cases can fray your hair, but silk or satin pillows are much less damaging as they have a softer surface.

10. Eat the right foods
Healthy hair starts inside the body; eating a diet that is rich in vitamins and proteins will help to make sure your hair is healthy. Include foods high in zinc, iron and vitamins A, B, C and E. These foods are great for hair growth: milk, cheese, eggs, chicken, whole grains, salmon, avocado, spinach, broccoli and cabbage.

11. Use a weekly hair mask
Hair past your shoulders is likely a few years old, so it needs more love than your roots. You can make great hair masks at home that help to moisture your hair; try mixing a cup of coconut oil with teaspoons of jojoba oil and almond oil for a hydrating hair mask.

12. Take hair supplements
Adding supplements to a healthy diet will really help with hair growth. Some of the most effective supplements for hair growth are biotin, folic acid, fish oil, kelp and flaxseed oil – try a few out to find out which works best for you. Good luck!
